France

This weekend is gonna be great! We’re headed to Normandy – half of our whole study abroad group, and that means all my friends plus more! I’m taking the digital and the black & white camera, so I’m psyched. I’m just about to get packed up for it, too, now. More later!

Tonight we had a blast! We were at Roxanne’s, and she has a room to herself, so we could make a little bit of noise – which we did! We had some Bordeaux with milk chocolate, white chocolate, ice cream cake, marshmallows, and gummies – yum!

We got a little silly with the fried-egg shaped gummies:

Marie loves fried-egg gummies!Oh no! Fried-egg eyes!

Here’s Marie’s boy-Beatle hair cut! Very sexy!

Beatle Boy Hair!

and yes, to top off the evening, my chair collapsed under me. It was hilarious!

Old, newly-broken chair

What I love most about this is that now my brother and I have stories about chairs busting out beneath us. Except I was in Paris, not Cancun :P

Today I had a cinema class – interesting as usual. Then I walked around a bit, making my way towards the building I have my photography class in, trying to shoot off the last bit of a black & white roll. I didn’t make it to the lab in time to develop it, in fact I didn’t even make it to the lab before I had to catch the metro home for dinner.

Here are some pictures of what I took pictures of, and saw on my little walk:

Street Art & Hearts!

The first thing I took a picture of was this street art – I make a point to photograph every heart I see. Its a really cute idea I got from a blog somewhere. But it reminds me of Seasame Steet when they would outline shapes in a street scene and say ‘Rectangle!’ and stuff.

Notre Dame from the back

Then I crossed a bridge over the Seine, and could see the back of Notre Dame, which I think is very beautiful with the flying buttresses and whatnot. Sorry its a bit blurry!

Protection de l'Environment

Then I walked and saw a bunch of vans parked for the Mairie (Mayor) of the Arrondisement I was in, but what was funny was they were all from the Environmental Protection Dept. Maybe that’s the parking spot for their cars, I don’t know.

Hey all, this is my first france post. Today I’m gonna try to make myself a sandwich for lunch, buy a bunch of stuff I need, develop my first two rolls of black & white film at the lab, and have my cinema class. Its crazy, I know!

Last night I went to the weekly swing dance and there were only two guys there and four girls (including Sarah and myself). Luckily one of the girls, well she was more of a woman, but she is a dance instructor – so she taught Sarah, Emile, and I the basics of Balboa – a very close dance for very fast songs. It was something I always wanted to do!

Ok, so now I’m gonna take a shower and get going, because class is in four hours, at 4!
